On December 11 the nominations for the 19th Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards were announced in Los Angeles. The following series in Merrick Library's Television DVD collection were among the nominees:

 

Boardwalk Empire - Best Drama Ensemble; Best Actor in a Drama (Steve Buscemi)

 

Breaking Bad - Best Drama Ensemble; Best Actor in a Drama (Bryan Cranston)

 

Downton Abbey - Best Drama Ensemble; Best Actress in a Drama (Michelle Dockery, Maggie Smith)

 

The Hatfields and McCoys - Best Actor in a TV Movie or Miniseries (Kevin Costner, Bill Paxton)

 

Homeland - Best Drama Ensemble; Best Actor in a Drama (Damian Lewis); Best Actress in a Drama (Claire Danes)

 

Mad Men - Best Drama Ensemble; Best Actor in a Drama (Jon Hamm)

 

Nurse Jackie - Best Comedy Ensemble; Best Actress in a Comedy (Edie Falco)

 

In addition, the movie The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel (also in Merrick's DVD collection) was given SAG nominations for Best Cast in a Motion Picture and Best Supporting Actress (Maggie Smith).

 

The SAG Awards will be simulcast live on both TNT and TBS Sunday, January 27. A highlight will be the presentation of a Life Achievement Award to Dick Van Dyke.
