On December 13 the nominees for the 70th annual Golden Globe Awards were announced in Los Angeles. The following movies in Merrick Library's DVD collection were among the nominees:

Act of Valor - Best Original Song ("For You")

Bernie - Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy (Jack Black)

Best Exotic Marigold Hotel - Best Picture Musical or Comedy; Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy (Judi Dench)
 
Brave - Best Animated Feature Film

Deep Blue Sea - Best Actress in a Drama (Rachel Weisz)

Hope Springs - Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy (Meryl Streep)

The Hunger Games - Best Original Song ("Safe and Sound")

Moonrise Kingdom - Best Picture Musical or Comedy

Salmon Fishing in the Yemen - Best Picture Musical or Comedy; Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy (Ewan McGregor); Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy (Emily Blunt)

Breaking Bad - Best TV Drama; Best Actor in a Drama (Bryan Cranston)

Boardwalk Empire - Best TV Drama; Best Actor in a Drama (Steve Buscemi)

Mad Men - Best Actor in a Drama (Jon Hamm)

The Golden Globes will be presented on Sunday, January 13 over the NBC network. For the first time, two women will cohost the ceremony: Tina Fey (TV's "30 Rock") and Amy Poehler (TV's "Parks and Recreation").
