The 2014 Baileys Women's Prize for Fiction Shortlist:

"The Baileys Women’s Prize for Fiction – the UK’s only annual book award for fiction written by a woman – is delighted to announce the 2014 shortlist.
This year’s six shortlisted books were whittled down from a twenty-strong longlist, which can be found here. The shortlist boasts one previous Orange Prize winner, one previously shortlisted author and three debut novelists.
Chair judge, Helen Fraser, describes the shortlist as, “brilliant, original and gripping.”
The judges must now choose an overall winner, who will be announced at an awards ceremony in The Clore Ballroom, Royal Festival Hall, Southbank Centre, on 4th June 2014

"Broadchurch: The Complete First Season" - from BBC America - David Tenant ("Bright Young Things") and Olivia Colman ("Hyde Park on Hudson") star as two detectives racing to solve the murder of a young boy over which there is a media frenzy that threatens to rip apart the deceased's coastal home town.



"House of Cards: The Complete First Season" - from Netflix  House Majority Whip Francis Underwood (Kevin Spacey) is out to destroy all his political enemies: even the President of the United States! - also starring Robin Wright (Golden Globe Winner: Best Actress in a TV Series) as his wife Claire.

"Mr. Selfridge: Season 2" - as seen on PBS and rooted in a true story - Jeremy Piven returns in the title role as the American-born owner of London's most flamboyant department store, which after five years might be enjoying its last taste of decadent glory before war engulfs England - also starring Ron Cook ("Confetti") and Frances O'Connor ("Jayne Mansfield's Car").
